Project Background:

The Project entailed Study of feasible management options for the 13 Water Schemes (Naivasha, Gilgil, Njoro, Elburgon, Molo, Narok, Mogotio, Eldama Ravine, Maji Mazuri, Kabarnet, Kapenguria and Lodwar) which were formerly operated and managed by the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) and facilitate the transfer of these services to RVWSB and its contracted Water Services Providers (WSPs) in accordance with the Water Act (2002).

It also involved Determination of the Immediate (2006 – 2010) and Medium Term (2020) Investment Needs basically on Rehabilitation and Expansion of Water Supply and Sanitation Services, including Environmental Audit, Unaccounted for Water Study for the 13 Towns. The total area covered was approximately 140 km2.

Preparation of Final Design and Tender Documents for Implementation of Immediate and Medium Term Investment Programme in 5 of the Towns – Naivasha, Gilgil, Njoro, Elburgon and Molo. The total area covered approximately 109 km2. This also involved Rehabilitation and Augmentation of Water Supply and Sanitation Works of 5 Secondary Towns (Naivasha, Gilgil, Molo, Elburgon & Njoro).
